New Book Announcement! Dispatches from the Outer Deep
I've just published my first book of writing advice: Dispatches from the Outer Deep: A Guide to Writing, Editing, Submitting, and Publishing Long and Short Fiction.
Over the past two and a half years of this blog I’ve shared with you many of the tips, tricks, techniques, knowledge, and more I’ve learned in my two decades of writing.
I’ve shared reasons why editors stop reading your story on the first page, dos and don’ts in the submission process, why no two authors’ paths will be the same, stories and anecdotes of my own creative path, the benefits of pansting vs. plotting, why rejections matter, why reviews don’t, emotional health, and much, much more.
And so many people have responded, telling me how much my advice has helped them with their writing. It came to me that I might publish this advice in book form, to reach more people.
That’s why I am super excited to announce the release of my first non-fiction book, Dispatches from the Outer Deep: A Guide to Writing, Editing, Submitting, and Publishing Long and Short Fiction!
This beautiful cover was designed by the talented Kris Dikeman, and the artwork is by the amazing Tithi Luadthong (aka Grandfailure). (I’m in love with the art.)
Those of you who have read all the posts on this blog will be familiar with the book’s contents (though I have included a few small updates.) But perhaps there is someone in your life who might benefit from a copy of this book? Or perhaps you might want to have a print or ebook copy on hand yourself for reference? Or maybe you’d simply like to support me and this blog? Any which way, I appreciate any love you might give to this book, online or off, reviews, purchases, shares, etc. This is my first non-fiction book, and I’m quite excited (and nervous) to release it to the world!
Dispatches from the Outer Deep is available on Amazon in print or ebook1 versions.
Once again, thank you so much for supporting me! 🙏
The ebook releases May 9th, so if you order today, it will arrive on your device on Thursday.
