How do I find a 'writers group?' I am hesitant to share my works online, except to an actual editor/publisher.

When I first started, I would post a flyer at the local coffee shop and on local web forums. These days, you might seek out Facebook groups in your community and post that you are looking to join/form a group. You could also take an online class and then arrange with some of the students to continue meeting virtually afterward. In general, I would seek out people who have similar writing goals who are local to your community (if possible) or online (if not). A good place to ask is (a) your local librarian, (b) your local bookstore.

I have noted the stereotype of writers in coffee shops and tried that a while back...however, that is not a valid concept here. I hadn't thought about the library or a bookstore. I will also check out the Adult Education for writing classes, instead of throwing out the flyer without looking at it. Thanks again.

Also if you have a local writing program at your college/university, you could contact the professors/teachers there.

My closest 'big' college (3 of them) is 30 to 40 miles away. What do you think of community colleges and 'adult learning' classes as resources?
